Welcome to KandiLand!! A blog for the new do it yourselfer (yes I just made that up) like myself. I’m a newbie to this whole blogging and diy thing. My aim is to share my journey with others and inspire others to discover their inner creativity as I am discovering mine.
All about Kandi…
I’m a Nigerian living in the United States. I love all things fashion, a huge make up junkie, and shoe addict. I recently moved to Connecticut from Washington DC with my husband and our cat Will Feral. Since moving, our little family has grown a little bigger with the arrival of our beautiful daughter. Her arrival is what propelled me to delve into the world of DIY. As I was looking for ideas to decorate her space in our then tiny apartment, I quickly discovered that many of the items I loved were way beyond our budget (go figure…my dad always said I had champagne taste on a beer budget J). My solution was to start learning how to create things. I’ve never thought I was creative or imaginative so it was quite a daunting challenge. With some encouragement from my husband to provide a boost of confidence I scoured Pinterest for ideas and my DIY passion was born. The giraffe art on the home page of this club is what I now like to refer to as my master piece. I know it’s not a perfect piece of art by any means but I’m damn proud of it. As a person who has never been artistic or able to draw it was a feat in itself to create.
We have since moved out of the apartment and recently bought a house. I now have a long list of projects that I plan to work on, firstly being my daughter’s nursery. The aim of this blog is to share my DIY adventures with those who might be interested. Maybe like me, you might discover that creativity you didn’t know you had.
Also check out EyeKandi for daily posts on inspiration and a glimpse of the current projects I’m working on and KandidView for reviews/thoughts on tools and products as I start to get familiar with them.
