Giant Ruler Growth Chart for Kennedy’s Nursery

Happy Monday everyone!!! So my latest project was for Kennedy’s nursery. As you all know  it’s still a work in progress.  Anyhoo…one of the things I’ve wanted to incorporate in the decor was some sort of growth chart. I thought it would be super cool and  fun to be able to see her growth progression.  For a while I hadn’t seen anything that really appealed to me and then one day I got an email from Pottery Barn  and decided to check out their nursery decor…and there it was, these giant ruler growth charts and I just loved them but alas the price was steep…$99 a pop.  And with everything these days I decided I could probably make it myself for a fraction of the cost.  And here you have it!! Kennedy has her own growth chart ruler.  I couldn’t be more pleased with how it came out.  It was quite a fun and easy project to do.  So let me know what y’all think.

Supplies: 6 foot wood board (I used 1″x10″x6′ board), stain (minwax in gunstock…I went with this shade because I wanted something bright that would pop), sand paper, polycrylic to seal stain and growth chart decals.  If you have a steady hand you could probably paint on the tick marks and numbers but I don’t lol and I was able to find these decals on Amazon.

After staining the wood I let it dry for two days.  I wanted to make sure the decals would adhere without any problems.

These decals were the easiest things to do.  I just followed the instructions that came with them and they were as easy to apply as 1,2, 3. Will Feral was supervising and making sure I did it properly

Sealed with polycrylic after the decals were applied.  This gives the wood a nice sheen and also protects the wood from sticky fingers.

And Mike made me stand next to the growth chart to confirm his suspicions that I was not 5’2 like I claimed lol.  And there’s Kennedy just about two feet tall 🙂
